A Family Business

The House of Mangar story is one of passion and innovation. Our namesake is the Maingard family (pronounced Mangar in French), who made their way from Mauritius to Durban more than six decades ago. Over the last 20 years, the next generation of cousins and their children have turned interests and talents into a thriving business. This started with the manufacturing of quality crafted furniture and kitchens, and soon evolved to include full interior decorating services

A love for all things French made it an easy choice to make French Provencal furniture our signature. With two brothers and their cousins embracing the challenge of designing and crafting inspired French-style wooden furniture, this set the tone for what we’re known for today. Over two decades of experience in manufacturing total quality allows us to deliver true craftsmanship, style and unforgettable pieces, time and time again.

Our talented team can’t wait to work with you to create pieces, spaces and design finishes that echo your vision.

Interior Design Consults

For those who would prefer a little more guidance, we offer a professional eye too. Why not transform your space with the help of our experienced team of Interior decorators? For a once-off consultation fee of R500.00, we’ll work with you to design your dream home interior. After spending time in your space and learning more about your vision, we’ll break the project down into phases to suit your needs and budget. Then, we’ll get to work with our contacts to create a one-of-a-kind result that’s completely unique to you.

Whether you’d describe your style as modern, classic or eclectic, we’re always ready to work our House of Mangar magic. Thanks to our partnerships with suppliers and manufacturers both locally and abroad, we’re able to source and provide everything from fabrics to wallpapers and even interior décor smalls. Furniture Restyles

Why give those treasured pieces away when you can simply repurpose them? With the right eye and capable hands, we can breathe new life and style into your furniture. This was added to the House of Mangar offering after we noticed that some projects involved existing dark pieces that didn’t lend themselves well to a lighter French Provencal aesthetic.

Today, our team use re-upholstery and professional paint techniques to deliver furniture refurbishment and restyling that modernises and refreshes the home. These also preserve your pieces for years to come.

Locally-made Provencal Inspired Furniture

Every item is crafted from our factory in Hillcrest (KZN). As a proudly South African business, House of Mangar provides opportunity for those with a passion for woodwork and design. Solid wood furniture and bespoke hand-carved masterpieces are what we’re known for and we certainly love a challenge! We source a wide range of hand-picked decorative items both locally and internationally.

This complements both our furniture and the overall look and feel of any home. From lamps to vases, ornate picture frames, cushions, carpets, chandeliers, silk flowers, clocks, bowls, baskets, garden tables and even ornaments, House of Mangar is your one-stop home interiors destination.
